About the Sybil Smith Foundation

The Sybil Smith Foundation was established in 2015 as a public charitable foundation to promote the well-being of the inhabitants of Southwest Alabama and Fort Walton Beach, Florida. To honor the values of its original donor, philanthropist Sybil H. Smith and her daughter, Ann Smith Bedsole, the foundation has five areas of focus.

• Organizations that support women and children at risk, especially those facing homelessness.

• Educational institutions, specifically the Alabama School for Mathematics and Science. 

• Preservation of the natural environment and improvement of parks and greenspaces.

• Historic preservation.

• Visual and performing arts.
